Front Row Holiday Gift Guide 2019

If you know someone who is training as a fighter (for competition or fitness), it can sometimes be difficult to know how to support them in achieving their goals. Aside from training alongside them and showing up to games, there’s not much you can do.

Start your vacation bucket list by checking out our recommendations below.

Help your fighter take a step towards the next level by choosing something from the list below. Of course, if you’re a fighter too, you can still take a peek. Maybe there’s something you should add to your bucket list.

We pulled these products from a list of our staff’s favorites. All of these are new items we’ve released in the last year or perennial fan favorites that every fighter should have in their bag.

And if you want to skip reading and go straight to window shopping, we’ve put all of these products on one Holiday 2019 Gift Guide page for you to peruse. Enjoy.

1. Freestanding punching bags

Bring the gym home and train without leaving home. A freestanding punching bag offers any fighter a convenient option for doing bag work at home. These bags go wherever you want and don’t require any special hardware to install.

For people who already have a speed bag or heavy bag hanging nearby, a freestanding bag can still be of great value. The movement and speed of a stand-up bag is very different from that provided by a hanging bag. Learn to dodge and block as the bag comes back to you after each hit.

Cobra reflex bag

This bag is one of our most popular. It will train your hands to be fast and your body to be faster.

Punch this bag and it will bounce back at you with blinding speed. Move your feet or raise the block if you don’t want to get hit in the face.

Tornado bag

Like its Cobra cousin, the Tornado offers fighters a fast and responsive punching bag.

Unlike the Cobra, however, the Tornado doesn’t try to train pinpoint accuracy and blinding speed. This bag gives you a larger hitting surface, allowing you to work on more powerful shots and good footwork.

2. Boxing gloves and body protection

Combine the punch glove with a body protector and give any trainer or training partner the perfect tools to help advance a fighter’s training.

Hold the punch gloves in a variety of positions to give a fighter a variety of changing targets. Then force your fighter inside to strike the body, while you remain protected from their strikes within the body protection. With these two tools together, a fighter gets one of the best training experiences available before the actual fight.

Panther boxing gloves

Released earlier this year, the Stealth Panther Boxing Gloves have become one of our most sought-after boxing gloves.

These gloves look great, provide fighters with a solid target, and require almost no downtime. And, just like our other gloves, your hands will be protected from impact thanks to the pad made of injection-molded foam (the same technology you’ll find in our IMF Tech gloves).

Gel Shock™ super body protector

Since its release, the Super Body Protector has remained one of the most popular body protectors in the boxing world.

Your vital areas are covered with multiple layers of protective foam. The protector is lightweight and pre-curved, making it much more comfortable than most similar products available. Three circular targets cover a Gel Shock™ insert to give you additional resistance.

3. Apex Boxing Equipment

With the Apex line of boxing equipment, we aimed to develop an affordable yet high-quality product line. We achieved this by developing a synthetic leather material that is almost as durable as real leather, yet costs a fraction of the cost.

Once we started working with this material, we discovered that it could be printed with virtually any color or pattern we wanted. This has allowed us to offer our customers a unique line of gloves and headgear with bold, brightly colored patterns. So now, every Apex product we launch is released in a variety of colors and patterns that we could never get with traditional leather.

It all started with just our Apex Bag Gloves. Then we added the Apex Sparring Gloves, Apex Headgear, and Apex Hand Wraps. We soon had a full line of boxing gear and equipment including: Boxing Gloves, Heavy Bags, Speed Bags, Double Ended Bags. And, just a few months ago, we added our Apex boxing shoes to the line. All of these products offer the same durability and unique designs as our original offering.

If you want to get yourself some boxing gear that can take a beating, that offers an amazing range of design options and that won’t break the bank, then choose something from our Apex range.

4. Dedicated sparring gloves

When most people start training in boxing, they start with just one pair of gloves. And the first pair of gloves is usually a pair of bag gloves.

For most training bag gloves work great. And while sparring with bag gloves isn’t unheard of, it’s really not the best decision.

So if you’re a boxer ready to get into sparring, or know someone who is, do yourself (and your training partners) a favor and get a dedicated pair of sparring gloves.

Released this year, the Bullet Sparring Glove is a great sparring glove for any fighter. These affordable gloves utilize our new StrikeForce™ synthetic leather, IMF Tech™ injection-molded foam padding and a variety of eye-catching patterns

5. Complete set of competition equipment

If your interest in the sport of boxing goes beyond its fitness benefits, then at some point you will step into the ring and become… an amateur boxer.

Unfortunately, you can’t show up to a competition with the same equipment you use for training. Most sanctioned fights have specific rules about what you must wear for a fight.

So check out the rules for the next tournament and then get a full set of competition gear. Here’s a list of what we typically recommend for your first tournament.

Open face competition headgear at ringside in red.
  • Ringside Open Face Competition Headgear – Unless the rules require something more protective, choose this open face headgear certified by USA Boxing. It offers a lot of protection, doesn’t weigh you down and doesn’t obstruct your field of vision.
Ringside Lace-up competition gloves in blue.
Ringside Diablo boxing shoe in black.
  • Ringside Diablo Boxing Shoe – These boxing shoes breathe as you move, yet give you top-notch technical performance. They don’t look shabby either. You feel good while keeping your feet moving.
Reversible ringside competition outfit.
Anti-foul groin protection at ringside.
  • Groin Guard at Ringside – Not all tournaments require a groin guard, but many strongly recommend you have one. The basic cup is fine, but the full anti-foul protection will ensure you stay safe down there.

6. Trusty skipping rope

The jump rope is a critical piece of boxing training equipment. It’s not only a great tool for developing your conditioning and improving your footwork, it’s also super portable. You can take it with you wherever you travel and always have it on hand for a quick workout.

Professional speed rope style skipping ropes, handles shown in four colors only: green, black, red and yellow.

We love the basic fast rope. Ball bearings in the handle help you spin the rope as fast as possible. It’s light enough, so it won’t wear you out beyond the rope routine.

Leather skipping rope with wooden handles.

Then there’s the traditional leather jump rope. This rope is super strong. If you collect it, you will use it forever. It also offers a little more resistance than the basic speed rope, so it can actually make your cardio jump rope more effective.

7. Resistance bands

Resistance bands are a hot item in the workout world right now. They can be used in various ways to improve strength training and conditioning. Like the jump rope, resistance bands are also highly portable, making them a great addition to the workout fighter’s kit.

Full length body band style resistance band loops. Shown in multiple colors and sizes.

Full-length body bands can be used to perform many of the same movements as a weight lifting program. You can also add them to your existing routines to increase their difficulty.

Resistance band tubes with easy-grip handles. Shown here in five different colors/resistors.

Resistance tubes, like body bands, are a great option for mobile weight training. These tubular products also come with a variety of accessories that allow you to perform numerous strength training movements.

8. Foam roller

There’s nothing better than a foam roller to improve recovery and reduce muscle tension after a workout.

Fitness First Vibrating foam roller in blue.

If you want to increase the effectiveness of your recovery work, you should consider our new vibrating foam roller. It gives you the same kink-working ability as a traditional roller, but adds vibrations (at three different levels) to help deepen the therapeutic effect.

9. Slam Ball

Exercising with a slam ball is a great full-body conditioning routine and will help you really develop your core.

Slam Balls are great conditioning tools because you can do many of the same conditioning exercises you could do with a medicine ball (like Russian Twists) or wall balls, but you can also do the intense slamming exercises the ball was built for. Slam Ball. execute.

Fitness First Slam Ball is slammed to the ground by the athlete.

The first slam fitness ball is available in a variety of different weights depending on your needs. It also has a textured surface to give you plenty of traction when it comes to manipulating the ball.

10. T-shirt or hoodie in the front row

In the front row "The best in boxing" T-shirt.

Finally, if you feel like none of these items are right, or you just don’t think you can afford them right now, you can always opt for your basic Ringside t-shirts and hoodies.

In the front row "The best in boxing" Sweatshirt.

Right now, our favorite design is one that incorporates that classic victory pose that calls to mind the Rocky statue in Philadelphia. We have this design in both the t-shirt and hoodie.
