Bergeron returns to the Ice to share knowledge with the Bruins’ young forwards
Patrice Bergeron made a special appearance at Warrior Ice Arena on Friday, working on the ice with Bruins forwards Fraser Minten and Morgan Geekie before the team’s full practice.
This isn’t the first time the retired Bruins captain has joined the current roster under coach Marco Sturm, who played alongside Bergeron from 2005-2010.
“I try to have him come in here every now and then, just to give those guys some advice,” Sturm said. “He’s the best. I just want to take this opportunity to understand his brain.”
Bergeron focused on power play positioning and matchup work with young forwards. For Minten, a 21-year-old center who aspires to be the kind of two-way player that Bergeron was, the session was invaluable.
“He knows a lot more than I do,” Minten said. “Anytime you can learn from one of the best, you’re going to try to do it.”
Geekie said Bergeron’s approach to the bumper position on the power play was something he had long admired.
“He kind of revolutionized the way he was played, being a scoring threat and supporting everywhere,” Geekie said. “It’s always nice when you have a legend like that to teach you a few things.”
Bergeron is a six-time Selke Trophy winner and ranks third on the Bruins’ all-time scoring list with 1,040 points. He played his entire 19-season career in Boston and won the Stanley Cup with the team in 2011 before retiring after the 2022-23 season.
When asked if Bergeron could eventually take on a more formal coaching role, Sturm gave a telling answer.
“In my opinion, I would say yes,” Sturm said. “Just not now. He’s too busy.”

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
